Shameless self-promotion
West University Methodist Church has invited me to perform in the last of six concerts that they organized this year to celebrate the renovation of their sanctuary and the installation of a new pipe organ. It is a wonderful concert space, and the instrument is amazing.
Prominent Houston organist Robert Bennett and I will play well-known music for violin and organ by J. S. Bach, Felix Borowski and Max Bruch. We will also play pieces that are heard less often, including works by German composers Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877–1933, best known for his organ-only music) and Hermann Schroeder (1904–1984), as well as Dutchman Bernhard van den Sigtenhorst Meyer (1888–1953). A good time will be had by all.
The best part is that it will last only an hour, which is approximately one-sixth the duration of a memorable Houston Astros ballgame, and those are not nearly as exciting to watch. (We’ve got a better organ.)
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to offset the costs of promoting the series and paying the enormous fees that intergalactic superstars such as myself command.
Sunday, November 6 at 4 p.m.
West University Methodist Church, 3711 University Boulevard
Hope to see you there.
Tres cool!
