Another great recording
Well, aren’t I just making myself the bane of the music labels’ existence.

Yes, we are planning a CD of Camilla Wicks playing the Sibelius and Van Wallen [I believe she means Valen, not Van Wallen. — N. J.] Concertos, and short pieces (including four test pressings on unissued Columbias). We are waiting for our engineer to finish his work on the project,
With best wishes

Subject: Camilla Wicks’s historic Sibelius Concerto recordingIs there any truth to a rumor I’ve heard that there is or will be a CD release of the 1952 recording of the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Camilla Wicks and Stockholm?
Thanks very much in advance.

I was privileged to study with Camilla during my music school days. (She is one of two world-class artist-teachers and extraordinary human beings, Steve Clapp being the other, who had a great influence on me violinistically, musically and personally over a six-year period.) The Sibelius recording in question is one of the most coveted LPs ever made, and Sibelius himself stated that he liked her interpretation of his violin concerto best.
I think they mean Van Halen. I’d be really interested in such an early recording of Eddie and Alex’s classical works.
