Cateclysm!

Our church has been encouraging parents to teach their children from the children’s catechisms. A catechism is a tool for learning truths about God and his Word by rote, something most young children can excel at. But sometimes big words are still a bit of a stretch!

The other night at dinner our middle child started pleading with us to work on “our memory verses and the cateclysms!” His rendition of the first one for the week was as follows:

“Why should we obey the Ten Commandments?”

“Because God is our servant.”

He was regurgitating language he had heard about Jesus being a Servant King, and confusing it with the correct answer, which is, “Because God is our Savior and King.” But thank goodness God isn’t our Servant. What a cataclysmic world that would be! end of entry

One Response to “Cateclysm!”
