A new kind of publishing
Stephen Wolfram has put the entirety of his book A New Kind of Science on the web for free.
Have sales been so sluggish that he’s giving it away less than two years after the publication of a book that took more than a decade to write? Generally, only people—such as myself—whose ideas have zero economic value beg people to pay attention.
Or perhaps he thinks the book is too important to continue to sell at a price, that it needs to be got into the hands of as many human beings across the planet as possible. His ego may be bigger than I thought it was.
Anyway, the book will get more attention this way, and that’s good for advancing both the popularity and understanding of cellular automata.
