28 days later …

I’ve been feeling less and less like a zombie lately, especially in the 28 days since my being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I’ve been getting lots of good exercise, mainly in climbing the steep learning curve associated with managing diabetes.

Thankfully, my hard work is paying off. The other curve—my blood glucose level—is looking less and less like the kind of terrain mountain climbers favor.

the first four weeks of my blood glucose level

I’ve learned a bit about how the human metabolism works through this experience. One interesting morsel: the natural food with the highest glycemic index is honey; that is to say, your blood sugar rises most quickly when you eat honey. I was intrigued to learn this because the Bible concurs in this finding (cf. 1Sa 14:24–29; Pr 24:13; 25:16, 27). end of entry
